Riding Waves and Climbing the Points Tally this Aussies!

Conditions may have proven challenging throughout the week for our standup surfers at this year’s Aussies, hosted at Trigg Island, however, that didn’t deter them from putting on a show by making the most of what swell was on offer.
With Trigg Island being a popular destination for WA surfers throughout the season, it was only fitting that our members took advantage of the home surf, putting on a clinic for spectators to enjoy.
Luke Upfold, proved to be the golden surfer within our midst, finishing with 2 medals in the Shortboard and Malibu riding events.
All points from the Surfboard riding competition contributed towards the club standings, counted at the end of the week, and crowns Australia’s Champion Club and Champion Master’s Club.

Whilst Surfboard riding events aren’t traditionally seen within the Surf Lifesaving competitions, it was a refreshing add-on to this year’s Aussies, giving competitors around Australia an opportunity to enjoy WA’s surf culture and open up the competition to be inclusive to other aspects of ocean sport.
We’re proud of our member’s efforts within this space and look forward to watching them carve it up at Trigg Island in the off-season.
