The bumper weekend of Surf Lifesaving Australia, continued after the Thursday Interstate event, with this years Super Surf Teams, 3 round competition hosted at Maroubra Beach. 16 teams from around Australia competed in the mammoth event, that is considered a league in it’s own, and is deemed a festival of team-based Surf Sports action.
Western Australia had 2 teams compete; named appropriately after 2 locations from our WA coastline that are just 2 of the many beautiful spots to be celebrated. Across the Broome Pearlers, and the Scarboro Sunsets, Trigg Island SLSC was represented by 6 members, with 2 additional member’s within the reserves. There was also a last minute addition of long term competitor, and historic Scarboro Sunsets team member Dan Humble, who returned for action in Round 2 and 3.
Our member’s put on an impressive display of performances across the 3-day carnival, with notable performances coming from Jazmin Shipway-Carr, who placed top 3 in the Single Ski event multiple times. Dan Humble was able to brush off a shaky start to have solid performances in his events, and Olivia Doddy proved valuable as she stepped in for Round 2 and finished top 5 within the Board Race.
